Elise Lehec

Viola/Violin

She studied violin with Marie Béreau and the Manfred Quartet at the Dijon Conservatory, obtaining her quartet, trio and violin prizes in 2010. The warm sound of the viola and the meeting with the violist of the Manfred Quartet, Emmanuel Haratyk, encouraged her to continue her studies in Bourg-la-Reine where she obtained her viola diploma in 2011. Elise also took quartet lessons with Rainer Schmidt in Basel, from 2009 to 2010. In September 2011 she was admitted to the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne, site de Sion, in the class of Tasso Adamopoulos. After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in viola, she continued her studies in the class of professors Diemut Poppen and Corinne Contardo, within the framework of a Master of Arts in interpretation, then a Master of Arts in orchestra.

Since 2011, Elise has performed in various ensembles and orchestras, such as the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, the Orchestre de Bienne, the Sinfonietta de Lausanne, the ensemble Pourquoi Pas, NEXUS, the ensemble Proteus, the Lemanic Modern Ensemble, the Portici Trio, the Pleyel Quartet, at the 2015 Sine Nomine Festival, and with artists such as Jean-Bernard Pommier, Gilles Millet, Francesco de Angelis, Béatrice Berrut, Stéphane Chapuis, George Vassilev, James Crabb or Olivier Cavé.

Very active in Valais, Elise is a member of the collective of La Folle Journée de Monthey since 2015, as well as of the ensemble Les Symphonistes d'Octodure since 2018.

Elise is the founder and artistic director of the ensemble Valéik since 2016, with which she presents original concert seasons, both in terms of programmes and formats, outside the "usual" classical music venues.

In parallel to her classical career, Elise regularly collaborates with artists from different worlds, such as singers Romain Didier, Sanseverino, Enzo Enzo, Bernard Joyet, John Cale, comedian Roland Vouilloz, Amine and Hamza Mraihi, in the project "The Band beyond borders", the Gauthier Toux Trio or the group Charlotte Parfois. She is a member of the Nymphéas project, supported by the group The Echoes of Django.

In 2020, she created the duo jugoistok with the accordionist and singer Lisa Biard, with South American and Balkan influences, as well as Disco-Barrière, a popular music group, with Micael Da Costa, Loris Ruchet and Lucas de Preux.

Eager to transmit a social, valorising and unifying pedagogy, she has been part of the "Violin à l'école" programme of the Vareille Foundation in Martigny since 2017. From 2018 to 2020, she gives workshops on music at the Institut des Hautes Ecoles de Glion, as part of the Luxury Mindset weeks.

Elise also devotes herself to the visual arts since 2016, through photography and linocut, producing since 2016 the graphic line of Valéik.
