Alejandro Martin Segovia

Cello

After starting the cello at the age of nine, Alejandro Martin Segovia entered the Gonzalo Martin Tenllado Conservatory of Music in Málaga (Spain) in Sabrina Rui's class for 10 years. Afterwards, he entered the Superior Conservatory of Music of Málaga. At the same time, Alejandro took advanced courses with the solo cellist of the Moscow soloists Mikhail Milman for 7 years. He obtained his bachelor's degree in 2014 after attending the Conservatoire National de Région de Boulogne-Billancourt (Paris) under the guidance of Xavier Gagnepain. Rich of this experience abroad, in 2014 he decides to go to the Geneva University of Music to perfect his skills at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève, where he will do a first master in musical interpretation - concert and a second one in musical pedagogy.

He then multiplied his professional experiences all over Europe : first in Spain with the Málaga Symphony Orchestra, the Santa Cecilia Orchestra of Madrid, the Orchestra of the Balearic Islands, with the Orchestre de la Picardie in France, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, the Carlos Chavez Orchestra of Mexico, as well as participating in numerous festivals such as the Turina Chamber Music Festival of Seville, the Cordeau Film Music Festival (Spain), the Murten Classics Festival, among others.

In 2015, he joined the Camerata de Lausanne under the direction of violinist Pierre Amoyal, where he stayed for two years. In 2017 Alejandro joins the Biel-Solothurn Symphony Orchestra for a one-year orchestral praktikum. Since 2017 Alejandro collaborates as substitute cellist in the Orchestra of the Theater of Alicante and the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands. Today he is regularly invited to play at the Camerata Ataremac, the Ensemble Symphonique de Neuchâtel and as principal cello of the Nexus Symphony Orchestra.

Since 2019 he has been a permanent teacher at the International School of Lausanne and at Aiglon College. He likes to share his passion with children and adults, and starts working at the Violin4all school in Fribourg in November 2020.
